The new Charmed is in its second season and it basically tossed the first season aside. The Charmed ones have a new role, live in a new city, and the supporting casts is gone. I think they are also presumed dead, so they might need to get fake identities.
That is kind of interesting. Now it seems like demons are gathering and declaring war on Witches. I am not sure what the demons have against the witches. This could be interesting.
It looks there could be new love interests for each of the sisters. I guess the love interests from last season won’t come back.
I think this might be worth checking out.

Young Justice remains really good
Young Justice is still really good. I hope there is a fourth season after this season (which is steaming on DC Universe). The title might be inspired by the Peter David Todd Nauck comic about a team of young heroes including Robin, Superboy, and Impulse.
This series feature younger heroes acting as a covert team for the Justice League. Old hands like Nightwing, Superboy, and Miss Martian serve as mentors/trainers. Aqualad has risen to Justice League membership, so we don’t see him as much as we did in the first two seasons. There are new heroes like Geoforce and Halo (she is different than her comic book namesake), and the alien Forager.
In season 3, the team is fighting meta human trafficking. Villains from the planet Apocalypse are involved. Also the death of Wally West is mentioned or referenced as the season progresses and there are still some plot points from previous seasons.

Static has made a few appearances, and it is good to see him. It was nice to see Blue Beetle too. Beast Boy might be getting a bigger role during the second half of this season but there are a few heroes who have not appeared yet that it would be nice to see.
Guy Gardner had another cameo this season. I love Guy, I like this show’s interpretations of him. Guy is one of the three or four most difficult DC heroes to write correctly. Guy can be a bit of a jerk but there is more to him than that and he lives a bit in Hal Jordan’s shadow.
This is perhaps the best animated superhero series of the last decade. I think this show has a good ongoing plot but it also has some episodes that stand alone. The show is not perfect, there is a plot line that I wish the show was not doing.

ReLife thoughts
ReLife is a anime series about a Japanese adult, Arta, who is given a chance to go back to high school. He is given a pill that lets him look like a high schooler. It based on a Japanese comic.
Arta struggles in high school but comes to enjoy it. He makes friends and later worries what will happen when the ReLife experiments ends. (His classmates will forget him.) He also worries that he is getting too close to one of his classmates.
I enjoyed this. Arta comes across as likable and so do his classmates. (Even though Arta is the character we spend the most time with, you get to know some of the other characters pretty well.) The setting is contemporary Japan. Maybe the show’s high school setting is not what a real Japanese high school is like but the setting is interesting.
The episodes are short and there is only 2 seasons (and one of those is only 4 episodes long). The show is comedic but there are also serious elements. It is not zany.
This is not an action oriented show, so if you like anime that is mostly action oriented, maybe it is not for you. I think this is worth checking out. I own it. I like the central idea of the show.

There is still drama surrounding Game of Thrones
Apparently some people were not happy with the most recent episode of Games of Thrones. (I am not watching the show but I know there is only one episode left and people want an epic conclusion.) There is apparently an online petition to get the season remade. I am sorry if you are disappointed but this is not a Choose Your Own Adventure novel. (Those were great.) If you loose interest in a story, you can stop watching.
Years ago there was a survey or study of sports talk radio audiences. I think it said for every 100 people who listen only 5 to 10 people call in and of those 5 to 10, only 1 calls in multiple days a week. I wondered if something similar is going on with audiences of TV shows or movies. For every 100 people who watch a TV show maybe only 5 to 10 sign online petitions about it or comment on internet articles about it.
If HBO gave in and remade season 8 of Game of Thrones (which is highly unlikely), that would be a very bad idea I think. What if they remade it and some fans were still unhappy enough to create another petition asking them to remake season 8? Would HBO remake it again?

Thinking about Star Trek Deep Space Nine
I have been thinking of Star Trek Deep Space Nine a little lately due to the documentary about it coming out soon. https://seansmoviethoughts.blogspot.com/2019/05/thoughts-about-what-we-left-behind.html I have not watched Deep Space Nine in a while, maybe this is a good time to re-watch the first season.
I know the show seems to growing more popular in the last five years or so. I remember it not being as popular as Star Trek the Next Generation for years. I am not sure if the show being on Netflix helped people discover it.
Here is the set up in a paragraph or so. Star Fleet has a base (Deep Space Nine)near the world Bajor and Bajor recently won a war against the Cardassians. However Bajor is near a wormhole and mysterious being called the Prophets dwell there. Commander Benjamin Sisko (played by Avery Brooks) takes over Deep Space Nine.

I guess people are excited by Game of Thrones
I guess people are excited by Games of Thrones. For a while I was not sure. Most of the TV websites I look at on a regular basis are full of articles about the last season of Game of Thrones. There are 2 episodes left. Maybe the excitement will grow.
There were 2 controversies recently about Game of Thrones. One is that one of the episodes was really dark apparently and the makers said it was a problem with people’s TVs. The next week there was a Starbucks cup visible during an episode. (Heh.) Apparently the makers of the show are going to remove the Starbucks cup.
I might check out how reviews about the series ends.

Cobra Kai season 2 thoughts
I enjoyed the first season of Cobra Kai, so I watched the second season. I think the first season was a little better than the second season. I am still interested in seeing season 3. Some characters from season 1 either disappear completely or are written out of many episodes. The show is evolving.
In the second season of Cobra Kai, Daniel LaRusso opens his own dojo (Miyagi-Do) to halt the influence of Cobra Kai. Several students of both schools get intense in their feelings against each other and this threatens to explode. Johnny Lawrence wants to redirect his students, he still wants them to be badass but not bullies. (A few of the Cobras are becoming bullies.) His old mentor John Kreese has a different point of view.
Daniel is training Robbie, the estranged son of Johnny. Johnny wants to connect to his son but might have up given on the possibility. Johnny is less than thrilled that Daniel is training Robbie. Johnny concentrates on his relationship with his star student Miguel (Xolo Mariduena).
I liked this but there is a character who seems to only be there for comic relief. I hope that character does not return for season 3. There are some characters I’d rather spend more time with than him. However maybe the writers have a plan for him for season 3 where he will move beyond his comic relief status.
Peyton List is on hand as bad girl Tory, who joins Cobra Kai. List does the best she can with that character but either the writing for her character is bad or her character needed more scenes to show different facets of her personality. (I am probably saying this wrong.)
The fight scenes come more often in this season and some of the fights are pretty good. I am not sure if the fight in the finale episode was a bit too much. I guess the writers did not want to end each season with a tournament but still wanted to up the action.
I think this has a good cast. Xolo Mariduena is good as Miguel, Jacob Bertrand is good as Hawk/Eli, and of course Lawrence and Macchio anchor the series. There are still some goofy or odd things about this show and maybe it wouldn’t work if it had to fill 22 episodes a season.

Thoughts about Cobra Kai
I have seen a few episodes of Corba Kai, the YouTube Premium series that shows where Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso ended up after the Karate Kid film series. It is actually good, I had doubts.
The series picks up with Johnny Lawrence still in the LA area but things are not going well for him. He has a crappy job, he lives in a run down apparent complex and his former rival (Daniel LaRusso) owns at least four car dealerships and has commercials. One day, Johnny helps a teenager who is jumped by a group of other teenagers and this inspires Johnny to open a karate dojo.
William Zabka is good as Johnny. He is relatable as a guy past his prime or a guy who has seen better days. Cobra Kai for him represents something great. I like the story even if the coincidences at the start are a bit much but it is a story, some of that is excusable.

I like an occasional musical number in a tv show
I like an occasional musical number in a TV show. I don’t think every show should have a musical number and maybe some shows are more suited to musical numbers then others.
The Magicians has done musical numbers for a while now. There was an acoustic rendition of Take on Me on the season 4 finale. Also I liked when the cast sang One Day More and one of the characters said “We had to skip a few verses. They’re great but they don’t apply to our situation.”
The Flash had a musical episode with Supergirl guest staring. That was fun. There were original songs and covers. I don’t think there have been any more musical numbers on the show since then.
Doom Patrol had a musical number by that show is in its first season, so it possible the series is still finding itself. (A lot of shows struggle in their first season.) It was fun.
Maybe I should watch Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, which often features musical numbers. Racheal Bloom the star of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend wrote at least one original song for the Flash musical episode. However the occasional musical numbers are partially fun for me because they are a change of pace.

Thoughts about the Magicians
The Magicians is based off a Sfyf series of novels by Levi Grossman. Jason Ralph stars as Quintin Coldwater, a mid twenty something year old man who discovers that magic is real and enrolls in a school for magic. The plot develops from there and he gets involved in adventures with his fellow students.
I like the show. It is not perfect but at times it is pretty good. Jason Ralph played Quintin. The show is not just Quintin’s story but he was often the central character. He was the new student at the magic school (the entry point for the audience as it were.) The last episode of season 4 killed Quintin and Ralph has officially left the show.
Is the show a bit oversexed? At times it might have been. I think it calmed down after the first season. The show started to do musical numbers and those have been fun or moving. The cast is good, and the magic and alternate worlds are fun. The show can also be grim.

The last season of Game of Thrones starts tonight
The last season of Game of Thrones starts tonight. There are supposed to be six episodes this season. I thought there would be more excitement about this last season. Maybe there is more excitement than I am sensing. Maybe I am not looking at the right websites.
Game of Thrones has been a big hit for HBO. It has been HBO’s signature show for the last several years. I am little surprised that a Fantasy show is so popular. West World is a hit but not as big a hit as Game of Thrones.
I never go into the show. I know people who have but somehow I never did even before canceling HBO.
There is a spin-off planned.

Cloak and Dagger returns this week
Freeform’s show Cloak and Dagger returns this week. The first season was good, even if it had a bit of a slow start. This show is inspired by Marvel comics. They have darkness and light related superpowers.
Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph star in this series. Holt has more TV experience than her costar. They are good. The show is set in New Orleans, which is a good choice. It isolates the pair from the Netflix Marvel shows which take place in New York.
The first season had 10 episodes. I think season 2 will also have 10 episodes. Maybe the show could work with 13 episode seasons.

Supernatural will end after its 15th season
Supernatural will end after its 15th season. I used to joke that the show would never end, and one day the stars’ kids would take over for them. (Those kids are maybe 5 years old or younger.)
I guess it is good that the show will end. 15 seasons is a lot. Make the stars can do some other projects. I have not seen the last few seasons of the show(I probably will someday) but I enjoyed several episodes over the years. I liked the first five seasons a lot and the show still produced some interesting episodes even within the last three years.
I wonder if the producers are going to try to create another spin-off. I liked the second spinoff idea, Wayword Sisters but the network decided not to go to series.
Good luck to Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins in their future endeavors I guess.

TV thoughts 3-16-2019
I’ve heard the new Charmed is pretty good, especially for a show in its first season. Maybe I should check it out. The original show was not bad.
Black Lightning season 2 should come to Netflix in April. Maybe I should re-watch some of the first season before April. That could be fun. I think keeping this show separated from the Arrowverse has been a good decision.
I have not watched the Flash much this season. Maybe I will catch up later. I wonder if shorter seasons would work better for the show. The show struggled a bit last season I thought.
A Million Little Things is probably terrible or at least really melodramatic but the cast is pretty good. The show might get better in its second season. Maybe the cast is too large.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is a different show then when it started
DC Legends of Tomorrow is a different show than when it started. That is okay and it is surprising how good the show is. It is pretty goofy. This show is about a group of time traveling heroes riding in a time shop. Time travel of course gets complicated at times. (That is the source of the fun.)
There are only three main characters (of nine) remaining from the first season. There have been at least five new characters added. That is a lot of cast turnover. That kind of turnover could destroy a show or at least hurt it.
The current crew
The Atom/Ray Palmer:genius scientist, billionaire
White Canary/Sarah Lance:former assassin, leader of the the team
Steel/Nathan Haywood:historian turned hero, might have lost his super powers
John Constantine:sorcerer and conman
Zari:woman from the future; wind powers
There are more jokes since the first season and some jokes are pretty out there.

Arrow is ending
Arrow is ending after an 8th season next year. Arrow has some up and downs but most long running shows do. Maybe it peaked in season 2 but I have enjoyed the show mostly. I will probably try to catch up on season 7 sometime soon.
I think it is a good move to end the show. Stories end. Also it is better going into a last season knowing that it is the last season than to have the network tell you that it is the last season while you’re making it. Maybe the cast and crew can create a really good ending now.
I think Stephen Amell has become a better actor over the course of the show (and maybe the writers got to understand his talents better)and I wish him in his future projects. I will miss the cross overs with the Flash and Supergirl. I like the dynamic between Amell’s Green Arrow and Grant Gustin’s Flash. (Green Arrow and Supergirl never had their own solo team up, so they have a different dynamic.)
