Unconnected show

I was a watching a show on a big streaming service, the name of the show is not important (for this posting). The show was unconnected to anything. It was not a sequel to an old series or remake of an old series or a spin-off from a film franchise. It was not a spin-off from another show. The premise was similar to a premise of a comedy movie from years ago but there are not a lot of original ideas.

I liked the unconnected nature of the show. I did not to know an elaborate backstory. I did not have to watch, or haved watched, another show to know who a character was. The show explained what needed to be explained as it progressed.

It was nice.

I am not against shows being connected to other shows or bing part of a larger franchise. However sometimes it seems like connections to other shows or being part of a larger franchise is more important to  shows than it should be.

Thoughts on the Book of Boba Fett

I did not get into the book of Boba Fett. It was not terrible but I think I will not finish it. I watched three out of seven episodes, I was not invested and I gave up. (I was invested enough to watch the fourth season of Cobra Kai in two days.)There are so many shows on so many networks or streaming services,  I feel okay giving up on one if I am not invested.

The last episode is controversial on twitter because one character did a spin move. That sounds silly. One small moment takes people out of a show or makes them not like it. Maybe I am misreading the tweets but the reaction to a small moment seems strong.

Maybe I am not the audience for these Star Wars shows. I am not sure why that is.

Maybe I am not interested in Boba Fett or never was.
